POLL: favorite Mercury motor
It seems like Mercury Racing has covered all the bases in the performance engines dept with the 525, 600, 700, 850 and 1075 lineup. What is your favorite and why? I like the 850 SCI engine...it's pretty sweet. I cannot afford it, but I really like it. That would be my personal choice.
I also wanted to point out that I find it unusual that alot of people would stay away from blower motors for reliability reasons, yet 4 out of 5 Merc engines have blowers.

525s would suit me just fine in something like a 33' Powerplay. Good enough to get you just above 80, naturally aspirated and reliable power that won't blow a drive.

i like the big 3.0L TKS, great on gas, easy to winterize, ussualy a ton af room left in the engine bay to get in there and work on your mills....even in twin applications

Isn't "Mercury" outboards and I/o's and inboards "MerCruiser"?
I thought this was going to be an outboard poll by the title.
Anyway, I picked the 525's for reliability, cost and the fresh-water cooling.
Any Opti-Max outboard would be my choice of O/B's.
