Tom,
Mercury Racing just released their 3.2 litre 300XS. I bet it will run rings around the Verado 275 (would make an interesting test). Much lighter and you're picking up 50 HP with the pair.

Yes thats true. But Im sick of buying oil! This weakend I spent $450 on fuel and $100 on oil. My 390 with 500 efis is cheeper to run. But then with the 4 stroke you still have oil changes every 100 hrs.

Tom,
The DI Mercs typically have fairly low oil consumption, and good cruising economy. I would talk with a knowledgable Merc High Perf dealer and get his input.

I have herd that to! the optis use very little oil. I have talked to a bunch of merc. hi perf. reps and thay all tell you the pros and cons to 4 stroke verses 2 stroke. So if I cant find 93 on the water the 275s will de toon and it will not hurt them. The only resone Im thinking of the verado is for re sale .Every boat almost at the miami show had verados.
