I thought that might be the boat. I know that it was originally a triple and the transom has already been reworked. Not sure to what extent it was done but it was supposedly done at Fountain. Also since you are looking at using the Viper motors you may want to check on the installed position of the motors to make sure they will work with the stringers and standard cutouts. That boat was a slug with the twin #6's and HP500EFI (I think that is what it had when it was on the lake here). The infamous Bill Harris showed that boat to me when it was here at Lake Lanier.

Go with the 6's, you will not have to worry about failure.

My project was number sixes also, I thought the same thing in going to smaller less expensive drives.

After alot of research, it's not the power you have to worry about. It's also the weight your pushing plus the power.

Need less to say I went with the sixes, you can put smaller drives on , but you will probably spend your money rebuilding them more often than you care to.

I do have a couple of Bravo HP transom assemblies for sale if you need them.

If $$ wasn't a factor I'd go with #6's and not even waste my time with a boat that big and heavy with Bravos. Over 600 hp I think you're asking for trouble.

As heavy as that boat is Bravos will not survive. That boat needs the transom redone anyway because it was not done at Fountain factory but at a Fountain dealership. The boat needs big staggered power to run right.

Hello everyone and thank you for all of the great information!!!

Does anyone know the weight of this boat with twin motors and drives?? I was guessing 10,000lbs... and if that is the case, then we're talking 5,000 of weight per drive. I would think that a bravo would take that kind of weight... but I could be way off. I am not sold on the bravo's... just thinking outloud.

At this point I am looking to save some $$$$ I am building a house in Apollo Beach, FL on the water... boat is almost too big for my dock.... also have a little boy on the way (in 3 months)... so again, I am keeping an eye on my wallet but would still like to hit 70+mph.

If anyone has a good set of drives they'd like to sell... shoot me a pm...
