seat belts? I fell lost with out it. lanyard? has been used before in the rough or sloppy water. I need to get used to it now after seeing that cig or the fountian in the trees. I do not want anyone getting hurt on my boat because I felt it was a pain in the a$$ to latch on. I will start useing mine

Of course he does -- speed limits protect everyone. I don't think he has ever had a careless moment in his life. When I grow up I want to be just like him.

Seriously -- everyone has a careless moment. I agree kill switches are a good idea. Do I wear mine all the time? No. Am I causing your insurance rates to rise? No, but I have the potential to do so. So does everyone here -- accidents happen.

Sydwayz,
Good thread! It still amazes me that people won't use them.

If you get thrown from your boat and survive only to find out your boat killed someone how do you live with yourself!!! Learn from others mistakes and use the kill switch.

Brian, In the accident I was in the boat did not have lanyards and it was a good thing that the only person of 5 that stayed in the boat was the driver.....but the boat landed soooo hard that it shut the motors off

We were on our way to Charleston last week and my starboard motor shut down While running about 55 miles a hour . I checked my lanyards both were still in place. After some trouble shooting I found the Kill switch to be bad. I was thinking of moving the other motor to the other switch and just having one kill switch for both motors . Do you guys see any reason for having a kill switch for each motor?

David

I wear mine everytime.

It's not even summer and we are already starting to see the foolish accidents. Everyone on here pays for this boat in the end. We have all seen our rates go up. Funny how boats are being built faster every year but my rates go up every year also.

Not to put a spin on the thread, But how many of these accidents do you think are preventable due to the driver in any way?

I have (1) Kill switch laynard for both my motors, in the Nordic. I don't use it while we are idleing in the Manatee zones, I'm moving around in the boat, getting sunscreen on the kids, etc. Once we get on the plane, the laynard goes on!
