Black Tornado:
The year was 1974 - early that year and the boat Don and Jim were in was a stock Cig 36 - just a demo- the race was the Palm Bay Invitational - at the Palm Bay Club, not the Jockey Club.
Just check King of Thunderboat Row.

In Mami, Nov. and December gradually move into Jan- Feb - so it is possible that yr is off. I doubt it, but if so, only by months. Michael lived at the PBC and was there.

Crouse in Searace wrote of the Slap Shot of Art Norris like the former personal 36' of Aronow that he wont to made a race return in 1973......
Slap Shot made the debut in early 1973.

"Snapper Norris" drove the 36' Slap Shot in 73 that is true.
It just was not the boat in the picture. That 36 was powered with stock Merc 390s as the PBC race was limited to production boats only.

Re: Aronow on him 36'
The number(2) is very similar(but not the same) to that of Slap Shot....with new race MerCruisers and other little modification it can became a 36' Competition....
