I've been told carriers can do 50+knots......
Not quite, but they will run over 35 knots which is faster than the majority of our surface fleet. The attack subs that accompany the fleet and guard the carrier will go faster. The only other surface ship that can run with the carriers is the Iowa Class battle ships. If a carrier has to steam WOT the Navy has to arrange escorts to meet the carrier along the way like a relay race.

More than likely gas turbines, like most navy ships. unless nuke.

P-3's....LMAO...... All I have to say is if we didn't want a P3 to find us they wouldn't.............period

Can''t tell you how many times we were doing exercises with P-3's and after they couldn't find us they would ask if we would come up and snorkel so they could locate us. Then even after knowing where we were then...they would lose us and we would have to come up again...... (snorkeling is when the submarine is still submerged but raises a mast above the water line that serves as an air intake and exhaust path for the diesel......spews white smoke for the P-3's to see.... )

was it built in Wisconsin?.......if it was Id keep an eye out for it cruising down Lake Ontario......be neat to see it
