Thanks for all the input guys...........looks like I might look much more seriously at a boat with the 575's then I originally would have.........not pulling the trigger on anything yet but I am starting to look.........

Hey John,

Call me later when you get off from work. Weather sucks today. I will be running around all day, call my cell.

Another thing as far as reliability , we raced a full race schedule w/ twin Mercury 575's in 2002. The motors were flawless and were WOT just about every minute they were running. Never a hiccup. I plan on putting one in my 28 next year.

5 blade Herrings , I think 30's and worked - 90 mph. We had lifting eyes on the boat and weighed 13,200 lbs w/ fuel.

There were two sc's used- the Holley I think had undersized sealed brgs on the back of the rotors. mine seized at 140 hrs and took out the rotors/housing. The other has wet brgs at each end. If you have Holleys I would either change brgs every 75 hrs or just buy the blowershop kit- otherwise strong reliable detuned blower motor. Good luck

Could there be a reason there's a disproportionate number of 575s on the market and they're always the "bargains"?

I'm waiting for a bargain and I'm snagging one. I guess it's the whine at WOT.
