I think it's roughly 1-2 teeth per lb if I remember correctly... 
I went from 5.5 lbs to 6.5 lbs. Had 32 on the bottom and 34 on top originally. I swapped out the 34's for 33's on top and it got me the extra LB.

I agree with Gino. lets take a pole and let the board decide which pulleys.. I'll donate them.. we should also install some engine room cameras to film the results.
