CCPerformance,
Do you sell the 8" KPM sea strainers product?
Also, would happen to know how it stacks up against the Hardin as you have fully described in you post (Post #6) ? Thanks, Mark

Re: Best Sea Strainers
I made my own sea strainers. I bought stainless 316 filters and welded brackets to them. Here is why I chose to do this. One stainless clamp rated for 250psi with a thick 3/8 O ring. Virtually problem free. One wing nut and the strainer is open.
Less than 10 seconds.
Why would they put all those bolts to open?
They need to be polished but cost effective and easy to use.

Re: Best Sea Strainers
My 9" KPM's i bought from Fred have worked real well, I have only clogged them once and that was with silt so I dont know if it counts as "sand" but yeah they perform well. it has a cap but it doesnt screw on there is a seperate piece that screws off then the cap has an O ring, my boat is covered up well right now or I would post a pic of it.

I have owned the standard Gil,Hardin and the MM seastrainers.I liked the MM the best but it didnt have the spin on top like CP shows. The Gils are a little thinner but the Hardin is even thiner. The Hardin one you have to becarefull not to step on it .I am using the one CIG3 posted a picks of for my iinnercooler ,so far so good.I dont have a comparson of the other name brands

Thats would be cool, especialy with low water pickups in the foot When I tear my motors down every year there is sand in the bottom of the blocks .I am real carefull of the sand bars. But I guess when your backing in to slips and docks you churn up the bottom and nothing you can do about it.

Re: Best Sea Strainers
Just to throw out another option. I have had a pair of Stainless Marine strainers for five years now. They are powder coated aluminum and must be at least 15" or so tall. All kinds of fittings on them and they have been really good. They have a pressure pop off valve in them which dumps the pressure spikes over board. I have done nothing more than hose them down a couple times a year and they have been fine.

I agree, stainless marine super strainers. So tough you can stand on them and not break them. Largest filtration/water reserve capacity I've seen.
