I work with Dan's cousin so it's kinda fun cause I get to hear it from both parties. Yes you are right Dan did a lot of tweaking including a monster inner-cooler. Steve Morrison was hoping to have him ready for the shoot out as well as a representitive for what Steve's engine shop can do.
When they dynoed they made so much power it broke the braket's right off the front of the engine that holds all the pulleys etc. So after that They had to make a big billet plate to hold every thing and keep it stable and strong. Trust me it was running right when it left Steve's shop.
Another fella I work with runs Twin 700's from Steve's shop and I will say they run alot stronger than I expected too.
Anyway's Dan had all this work done already when he had his encounter with Bill / Check300.
I later talked with Bill and you know the rest, Bill is a stand up guy and as honest as they get.

Maybe I should put that comment into context, From my own insight and listening to Check300's adventures along with his boating partner Tom Earhart.
I would gather Bill and Tom enjoy flat water per say the best, reason being is cause that's typically where the Hotrods hang out, STV's , V-drive's, Pickle Forks, and Cats.
So they seem to frequent Hardy Dam, Gun Lake, Alumn Creek etc. which allows them plenty of Hot rods to play with.
Where the 4 footer plus comment came from is:
Seems at one point I was talking with Bill and asked him how the boat handles etc. with that big of a drive hanging on there. To which he replied how great it is and he could run at (such and such) speed in what I thought was 4 footers and Tom Earhart couldn't even begin to run with him. I believe this was on Lake Michigan and granted they are two totally different boats. Tom Earhart runs a 24' Eliminator with the same engine and a B-Max drive.
So I hardly think that they go wave crushing, or look to go wave crushing. But the boat has been in some bigger water and I was told it does great.
Bill is not careless or wreak less, he seems to just enjoy being out there and having
fun.

I don't think you would Screw up the boat.
1) What are your afraid of screwing up?
2) How much power do you realisticly want to run?
If your at 800 hp stick with the konrad, if your going to exceed that than you might want to start thinking about the
#6.
I realize plenty of people are shoving more (HP) than that into bravo's and Konrads but you will be paying the piper eventually. And I think you can find enough Bravo clientle on here that could have paid far a #6 from all there replacements or repairs of the bravo's.
Me personally if I had to choose between a #6 and a Konrad I would go with a used #6 wetsump and Transome assembly.
Simply by the time ya price it all out, your at the same money
as a new Konrad.
Yes your props my be a bit more, but you finally have piece of mind that you won't break it.
Don't get me wrong I think Konrad makes a great product and I'm glad they do cause I feel it pushes Mercury to improve there product which we all benifit from.

I would like to run 800+hp but I'm figuring on always wanting to up the pwr in the future
I would take comfort in knowing the drive line is "bullet proof"
I'm going to call TNT today. Where are they located?
