Now that I may be close to buying a cc and I still like speed, what can be done to increase performance on a 225 jouhnson outboard?

Depends on 2 things...
How fast you wanna go?
And, how much you wanna spend?
As other's have mentioned, screamandfly.com , is a good place to start for suggestions.
Diamond Marine works primarily on Mercs and they're actually in Ft. Lauderdale.
There's Jack Barsh in Jacksonville and Gordon Montegue (sp?) (I believe he's in SW FL) and they really know they're way around the OMC's.
