I too have used a lot of the Pioneers(6x9) 4-way in a few boats... have had great success with them. But then again, I'm on inland water. I have also used a lot of Babb... very nice! My .02... I have always added a set of tweeters to get the crisp highs using the Babbs.

The POLY or the Kicker Marine are good picks in your budget but MB has expanded their line with some affordable new options that fit you pricing needs.

Just swapped out our system and went with (6) 6 1/2" PolyPlanar and (2) 10" PolyPlanar subs. The system sounds awesome and I would recommend going with the Polys if you want to stay on the "marine-side" of speakers.

Thread is 3 FOOKING YEARS OLD! Thanks again Norty. Dirty Bastage. (Yes, I was typing a response.)
See you in a few days. I will speak with CK about keeping your time more occupied in the future to avoid this tom-foolery.

You guys are against the Pioneer, but I installed the NEW Pioneer Nautica 8" speakers (200 watts) and the sound great. Picked them up for under $100 pair at ETRONICS.COM
Why pay more, the sound great and look good also.

Anyone know what I should use for amps? I purchased 2 Hifonics amps (Zeus and Brutus) but the mountings for the screws are very flimsy. They are sure to go flying with the first roller we hit. I'm going with 2 JL 12" W6's and 3 pairs of MB Quart 6X9's. I don't want to go with real expensive stuff because it never lasts more then a season anyway.

I have decent luck with a decent automotive , I take it apart and get to the circuit card(s) and spray it with conformal coat. You can get conformal coat in a aerosol can and it goes a long way to help electronics live in harsh environments. Just the boards and components though, any CC you get on heat sink surfaces will hurt the thermal transfer.
