APRA Safety Meeting Notes from Miami Boat Show
Hello everyone,
Attached is the official recap of the APRA Safety Summit Meeting that was held during the Miami Boat Show.
I feel the meeting was a success based on the number of Manufacturers, Promoters, Engine Builders and Industry Insurance Specialists that were present. Over 90 people attended.
The 2007 APRA Pannel included:
Richard Crowder - PRA Moderator [email protected]
Brian Ross - Ross's Offshore Racing Performance Center [email protected]
Bob Christie - Typhoon Performance Marine [email protected]
Dave Patnaude - NJ Performance Powerboat Club [email protected]
Bill Beccaro - Legal Advisor [email protected]
Sheryl MacKey - PRA Event Coordinator [email protected]
Bill Taylor - APRA President [email protected]
Pierre Savoie - APRA Executive Director [email protected]
At the meeting, several topics were discussed and the following notes have bullet points that refer to the various topics that were discussed. One of the best achiements I believe is that poker run promoters promised to share information about participants who behave badly and get disqualified. This will enable other promoters to have a "heads up" if these participants chose to register for other promoter's events.
Even after the meeting, the APRA continues to contact the manufacturers and promoters to fine tune safety guidelines. We are currently working on what special provisions should be made for full canopy boats if they want to participate in poker runs.
I hope you find the attached file interesting reading and feel free to share your comments with me or any of the pannel members above.
Best Regards,
