Just about like any sizeable American city, Pompano Beach has its desireable and undesireable areas. East of US 1, (Federal Hwy.) and North of Atlantic Blvd. is a pretty safe bet.
Cash Bar would be my main contact if I was in the market.

Pompano beach is actually a good place to buy something now. During our building flurry the past 10 years or so it seemed it started in Miami went north, Aventura was hot, Hallandale was real hot, hollywood, it kinda skipped Dania and went into Lauderdale, skipped Pompano and continued into Palm beach county. Meaning that the prices have not been to inflated in Pompano like they can be in Lauderdale, or Aventura. I think it is still a good buy, and in 10 years the whole coast will back to valuation and you will have bought near the lows.
At my last Builders Association meeting here in South Florida, I believe there were 42 Condo Buildings slated for the City of Ft. Lauderdale and 14 for Pompano beach that are still in Planning and Zoning, I think that is going to be a great boost for Pompano.
Just work with Cash Bar, he will know much more about the area than us builders!
