No Benny hater here! I'm actually one of them, just in a female body (From Brooklyn, now live at the beginning of the Jersey Shore)

I'm familiar with the term. I'm just bustin' chops. I grew up in NJ, but doubt I would ever move back.
It's the same in any tourist area. The locals complain about the tourists even though the tourists are making a contribution to the local economy. Hotels, food, drink, entertainment, etc.

When the Staten Island people come down to the Jersey Shore! The typical stereo type is an Italian guy from NY that wears one of them wife-beater g-tees. Benny.... Guido .... Gumba ...... it's all the same. (Also it's anyone from North Jersey) Hell ........ Tony Soprano would be considered a Benny down the Shore.
(Also includes them guys from NY and North Jersey that only own a summer house down the shore. Part-time residence but full time taxpayer.)
