MPI and horse power

Depends what you mean when you say "maxed" out,I just dynoed my 540 with a 2000 502 mpi manifold and made 657 hp and motor is only 8.2-1 compression. The throttle body was bored out,I built twin rail fuel injection and used bigger injectors plus the manifold was ported. I am using 315 cnc afr heads also but also the cam was a blower cam so it probably could have been better with the right cam and more compression. A 540 is 7.1% bigger than a 502 which tells me my top end could have still made 620 hp on a low compression 502,Smitty

I just changed my 502 to a 540 and kept the side mounted whipple. It just dynoed at 825 with over 860 pounds of torque. We installed a 2000 cfm throttle body and holley intake, however we still used the top hat of the MPI intake. Check out the thread "One of a kind 502 rebuild"
The stock intake system and small throttle body is the major limiting factor.
