"Splash" means using somebody else's boat as a plug to create a mold.

Here's a little trivia: The 35' Mistress, (8 ft. beam) and the 36' Cigarette, (9'6" beam), are the same except for the crease in the side that causes the hull to go straight up. The 36' has no crease and the hull flare is uninterrupted up to the deck.
The 35' Marlin is a splash of the old 36' Cigarette and the 33' Cigarette is the 36' with a stopper in the mold. I believe Cigarette made 12 back in the 80s to comply with a ruling to fit into an overseas racing class.

Older Hustlers were pulled from the Signature molds.

Hustlers then became Outerlimits(OL).

40 MTI is derived from 36 Skater.

A ton of boats started as 27 magnums.

The single step AT hull have Harry Schoell's DDC patented bottom regardless of the orginal lineage.

This info from previous OSO posts.

30 Chris cat bottom was used by 31 AO , 31 Awesome & Shadow Cat I believe used this bottom as well.

The 30 Shadow came before the Chris Cat. George Linder designed both the Shadow and Chris Cat. I believe they were pretty much the same, but I don't think the Chris Cat was a "copy" of the Shadow.
