26 Baja Outlaw or Donzi 27 ZR?????
#21
I think the 27ZR is definitely THE starter boat for the 21st Century. The steps will coax more speed out of it, but what I've learned from driving a stepped boat from a non-stepped is that they handle and feel differently at different speeds. My Fountain is a fat pig up to 45 mph. It bounces and just feels heavy. As I increase speed, it changes at certain speeds such as 50, 60, 65, 72 and 80.
If you go with the Donzi, I would recommend getting hydraulic steering and K-planes vs the regular style tabs.
Good luck on your search!

Rob,
I just use it on lakes so it hasn't seen anything too rough. It's handled everything I have thrown at it so far like it's nothing. Runs very flat.
I do have the 496. The bump to 525 is about $ 30k so I'm planning on going the Raylar route once the warranty is up. She ran 72 out of the box with the 26p BravoI. I'm running a labbed 26p Maximus now @ 71 but the cruise is awesome, 50 mph @ 3650.
Cabin is small but we have overnighted on it a couple of times. Build quality is outstanding. Good luck with the search!

Thanks guys...I actually found one, I'm waiting to hear what the price is as the guy who currently owns it is having some financial difficulties. I should hear something tomorrow. The more and more I search, the more and more I am leaning towards the Donzi. I just wish there were a few more reviews on the boat.

Your getting far too cerebral for this debate.
You should know by now, that as Baja owners, were not qualified to speak on this subject

I too was wondering what the deeper meaning of that was, but was not about to chase it.... thanks for clarifying
