The Potomac is a pretty cool place to boat as well. That far south/east on the Potomac, is actually salt/brackish, as you are not far from the Chesapake Bay. Do a Google Search on "Solomons Island Maryland" which is also a very cool boatable destination, as is a trip all the way into Washington DC and Alexandria, VA.
There are quite a few of us here that are within an hour or two of there by boat and/or by land. As mentioned, "Linster"/Linny on OSO has a place right on the water there, as well as a 35 Nordic. "45Sonic"/Bill & Patty have a big Sonic and a big Sea Ray cruiser, and they are close, and there are some really awesome events in this region each year. If you make it, we'll be sure to find you a ride on the Jammin' on the James (Richmond, VA) Poker Run as well. Albeit, you will have to put up with John.
