The OEM intakes that are aluminum have a bronze lined water passage in the intake, to address the corrosion issue.

Not sure what cracked it, but it looks like it was run while cracked , you can see where it must have been dripping salt water on front of the complete motor, pulleys etc. have rust and back half of the motor super clean. Oil is clean, well oil is dirty but w/o any water. I guess since the liner was bronze that eliminates me trying to weld it up since I am in the salt.

I am going to buy a leak down tester but since I have to take the intake off anyhow, I might a well pull head and freshen those up and look at the walls. I might try to get a starter rigged up and see if it runs though before I yank the intake.

I am just curious because I did a similar project when I had a single. Previous owner (friend) did a bad winterization and it cost the block. I did a long block swap out and took the opportunity to change a couple of things because I had broken the magic "stock" setup.
Not a bad project and then when you are out on the water you sure know what you are looking at, since you had to transfer it all over. Good luck.

Has anybody suggested that you have the heads of the new block magnafluxed? Just curious. Saved me setting up a bad set once. They came from a compromised block and didn't pass.

Good idea, like I said I gotta pull the intake anyhow so I am planning pulling the heads off. Since oil looks clean if the heads are good I should be in OK shape.
