p.s. big difference between picking on a boat load full of illegal immigrants than picking on a guy going for a run in his offshore powerboat. I'm sorry, but I think what they did to this guy is over the top.

I was coming back one night (maybe 9PM) about 2 years ago from Captiva to home in Bonita in the Baja going about 55 in the Gulf. I was maybe 2 miles west of the Fort Myers Beach pier when the Coasties came flying up. They were cool the whole time - when one of my passengers asked why they stopped us they said a) it was night b) we looked like we were moving pretty fast and c) they were bored!

They just checked the sticker, asked if I had safety gear on board and let us go on our way.
