I ran in the Bahama's for many years with diesel boats, never had bad fuel to the point that a change or two of filters didn't fix. But, I have heard stories of bad gasoline and your right, bad gas will kill a gas engine, bad diesel for the most part clogs filters and maybe some power lossed but it won't destro an engine.
Choke up another one for the diesel boys!

If your still thinking about adding diesel power, get in touch with OSO member Team Taboo. He has played around a bunch with diesels, in a 42 ft Fountain and a 39 MTI. I think the MTI would Run around 105 at 3800 rpms. Amazing, considering the powerplants are very low maintainence.
