Many places out there sell the exact same GM crate engines
Over the years...4 big blocks...3 small blocks...never an issue...
and delivered right to my door....

I bought a SBC Power Pack setup from Runsnew and had some carb issues. The A Hole was very rude and pretty much told me it's not his problem.
I was directed to Crusader/Pleasurecraft Marine as they are the ones assemble that particular motor. They were very helpful and even sent me a new carb. free of charge. I menioned the poor service to the rep. and he stated it wasn't the first time they had issues with Runsnew.
Also, a friend of mine bought one of there "upgraded" 502 motors only to have the cam come apart after 15 hours. Runsnew did not stand behind it either!

make sure this is a marine motor and the tolerances are opened up on the bearings . i had a new 502 in my boat when i bought it and shortly after spun a a rod bearing on number five . it will not last if it is the car motor.

1) order zz 502 from GM dealer.
2)Take to your favorite marine mechanic
3)Open checkbook slightly for marinizing/valves, etc
4)Smile wickedly as your 550/ft lbs of torque crushes boat next to you.
5)Laugh at Mercurys prices.
