Default Marine Salvage

How do insurance companies sell off parts for totaled boats? Do they contract with a particular salvage yard in the local area? I've been browsing for salvaged parts but I'm having a hard time finding yards that deal with parts vs the entire boat. Any info? thanx

An insurance fraud investigator tells me that they don't sell to individuals because of liability issues

The boats are sold as a whole unit if they have any value left. Otherwise they are destroyed.

Usually "local-yokel" type places buy them and part them out.
