workhorse
Puder, that ruck is a real workhorse with beefy components. Not sure about the 5 speeds then- just make sure it shifts ok and no brg noises. Also look for a leak at the rear main seal of the engine- I had a friend who went through several on a 87.
The engines are not bad- just slow compared to today's intercooled and turbo'd units. You can always hop it up later with aftermarket goodies. This truck probably will not depreciate much either. If everything checks out you could probably turn it over with a minimal loss or hop it up when you get that bigger boat.
Everyone likes the speed of their boat/snowmobile/towrig til they try something better faster etc- it's all relative! Good luck!

I would recommend that you stay away from it. On of the biggest reasons I moved to the new 3500 D/A dually was that my current '91 Z71 half ton was a dog. Now, sure it was way overtasked frame and suspension wise (11,800#) but the motor just would die on the hills. A noticable increase in temp. was also a factor.
