Well I just upgraded my 280 Baja.
Original Baja Teleflex gauges and rings $450. gauges were new and the rings were used.
Used baja shifters $450
New switches $175
New compass $40.
I made the dash panels $20.
$1135 Total So it can be done.

If you do some serious eBaying and are handy you can update your dash for MUCH less.
I did my Donzi (single engine, so keep that in mind) for about $200 not including the steering wheel.
That did include a new ignition switch, switches, a whole freaking array of Gaffrig/Livorsi gauges (10 of them including speedo and tach).

New panels, custom painted to match boat graphics, new gauges, sticks, sounder, compass, wheel, with wire up and install....$5K, not to mention another $876 for a new GPS.
