SC Senate Bill 835 Tabled For This Year!
Congrats to the boaters of South Carolina!
We have successfully tabled Bill 835 for this year! Actually, the Senate subcommittee said that since they were so uneducated on the subject of boats, they would put the bill aside until they were able to do further inquiries on boats and how it affects the state and our economy. The senator's assistant informed us that there won't be enough time to get this through this year!
Kenneth did an excellant job of explaining how the bill they're proposing was unrealistic and wouldn't accomplish anything! He presented them with a packet of info that showed them the different muffler systems for the different boats and how it would be unrealistic to change some of the older boats to comply with this bill. Rich Bennett was also VERY helpful in explaining how it would affect the economy if this bill became law. There were some people that made it to the meeting that weren't able to speak...namely Curt Owens and Howard Wessinger. Thanks so much for showing up!! Even if you didn't speak before the committee, your being there said more than you'll ever know!
Thanks to DNR for also being supportive in this matter saying it was very difficult to enforce any law on noise. As a matter of fact, DNR made it known they suffered no budget cuts this year due to the increase in the boater registration fees!
Again, thanks for everyone's support and help!!!!

MrsW............Personally, that was a "stellar" job you did representing the facts, with such a great outcome. I know I speak for some of the GA boaters that frequent SC, and say many many thanks.
Great great job.......................THANKS ....

Sweet, now enjoy the summer and prepare to let the horses run. Also When we come down in April we will keep track of how much just my family spends in one weekend on Lake Murray, to prove the tourism dollars they would loose.
