.....Senate Energy Bill S517 Defeated?....
I hope I have this right, but the link below in reference to improving the mileage and ultimately the size/towing capacity of pickups was defeated today in the senate. The way I am interpretting it is that the vans and other SUV's, maybe even Suburbans/Expeditions/Excusions may have numbered days if they don't meet the new mileage specs. All pickups are exempt from the new specs. If I am "out to lunch" on this, let me know, otherwise it is something else to be glad of besides the other problem in South Carolina with the open exhaust!

If you heard the bill was "defeated" than it means that it was not passed. I had no idea that it was up for vote so quickly.
You are correct. This is good news, however, when you give them an inch (SUV's etc.) you leave the door open for future possibilities.
I'd still watch this one. The Senate could "fluff" that issue into any bill including one on crime. Thank God for the Line Item Veto.
