Usually the drives get a little work at this time too. What was the freight cost to get motors to merc? What was the labor cost to pull, crate and reinstall? Was there any blower work in that estimate?

I know my new motor when done will get between 200 and 250 and that is with the big pulley at about 1050hp its not finished yet . thats because he is using a roller cam, so I wll have to change springs, lifters valve job. that should be it. and my motor has very good parts. I heard merc was 50,000 for twins from a friend in my town who sells merc parts. he looked at me funny when I told him 96,000 for twins he said maybe it was a misprint. man a 125 hours is dick for a 1075 motor that costs 65,000 to 80,000 for just one motor. Thank god theres guys LIKE DEAN GELLNER out there that can build a race motor and last for four seasons

That seams a litle steep. I have sent several pairs back to mercury and once given the estimate the end price wasnt much higer. The first rebuild to the original owner is discounted to 18,000 per which includes a ton of parts
bearings, rod bolts, gaskets, lifters, springs, valve locks, retainers, valve seats, rocker arms rebuilt, rebuilt blowers , all new sensors, belts ,hoses all the block and head work , pistons, rings ,seapumps .If upon tear down if any aluminum part is found deteriorating it will be replaced at add $ . Every pkg that I have returned looked like brand new and came with bokes of all the old replaced parts. Still your price sounds very high.
