my mind is wandering again
Just a few nautical posers and thoughts for your consideration. Please feel free to add your own.
How do you grease all the bearings in a compass?
What the heck is a tonneau? What is it doing on my boat?and why do I need to cover it?
Do fish burp?
Shouldn't it really be called scuba swimming?
Sailboat race?

Actually some of these have answers.
For example the term Tonneau cover is redundant. A tonneau is a cover usually canvas originally used to cover the cockpit of a roadster to protect the interior.
SInce the main bearing (pivot) in a compass is immersed in oil additional lubrication is unnecessary. On some compasses with external gimbals a drop or two of light machine oil periodically should suffice.
Sailboat race is a perfect example of an oxymoron.
Yes, it should be called scuba swimming though one definition of dive is "to go below the surface of the water, as a submarine"
Can't help you with the fish burp thing.

Here's another one to ponder....
Why does putting your foot in water suddenly make you feel like you have to go to the bathroom?
Is it Natures way of telling us we are supposed to pee in the water?
