OT: VHS tape to mpg?
Does anyone know how to transfer video footage to your computer?
Any special hardware or software needed?
How and where to post it on the internet?
Instructions on how to do this?
I have some great boat footage, like me stuffing a 24'Sunsation Rocket and driving it completely underwater and some extreme air footage.
Thanks.

You need a video capture card to capture the video. The DC-10 by Pinnacle works well and it cost less the 100.00. Studio 7 also by Pinnacle software works great and Pinnacle gives you space to store it on the net to share.

DAzzle makes hardware and software to do this but you need a P4 or equivalent computer. I have this hardware ( have you seen my movies) If you don't want to spend the $300 for this system you can mail me the tape if it is VHS I will convert it for you and can burn it to CD. It is time consuming. The cheaper cards only do digital to digital not anilog to digital as VHS is.

You most be the only person that had great luck with Dazzle.
Which system do you have. I play with consumer stuff for a hobby. I work with the high end systems so at times I may not be fair. I would like to know more about your system. I have heard good things about the Vegas Software.

i remember when video capture boards were a $1500+ i had the bottom of the lien video spigot back then $400 from there i upgraded a year later to an intel board that was again $400. Funny part is i still use it and it works pretty well! Especially since its 7 years old

I wish the ones we used at work where $1500.00. Ours are more like 5 grand and the software about two to three times that amount. At home I play with the $100.00 cards. Firewire is the way to go less than $50.00 a card and looks great.

What I have is the DAZZLE digital video creator II & moviestar. It works great for converting analog tape into digital format for editing. Then you can make whatever you like with it.
