I've wanted one of those ever since they first came out in the sixties. Ford built a few street versions back then only to satisfy FIA rules.
Wish I had the bucks to get one when the do come out.
I could go with a kit and build it myself. There's several out there.

Several years back I was in California and there was someone who was mfg a kit that was pretty darn close to the orig. It cost quite a bit of cash as I remember......and it wasnt very practical......no air ...hard to get into.....etc.......I hope this one is a little more user friendly.......if they do it right.....it will definitely give the viper..vette...crowd a run for their money......I would imagine they will be extremely hard to get also.........better get your order in now!!!!

Ford did some major redesignign to make the GT-40 civilized.
The original had the twin fuel tanks on the outer perimiter (under the doors). Thats what you had to crawl over to get in. Ford also made it longer, more leg room, and taller, more head room. The original had to have a "bubble" on the roof to accomodate Dan Gurney's 6ft+ height.
I know the kits are expensive. I could, if I had the bucks, go to Hollman/Moody in Texas and buy a "new" original. They bought the rights to the racing version and are producing them on a limited basis. 427 engines and all.
