27fountain, you refer to a 96 p-29. Should see 77-78 with the boat. (350 mags with blackhawks). Stock 350 29's see 72, dont be fooled on higher.
I miss my old 94 29 w/502. It was my favorite boat. Wife wont let me go back to it...something about needing a 38, not sure!

I always stayed away from the p29 because I thought I would never sell it. When I was looking for one I found a few nice pieces, but they sat a while. So I assumed I would have trouble selling it at 55 - 60k.
I would still go look for one if the wife would let me. Actually I like the paint a lot. I would love a p-29 single 500.
The interior is simply awesome.
On another note. The 29 scarab was one of the few boats that worked incredibly well with the blackhawk.
As 29scarab says...it is great in rough water. I think it is one of the better boats wellcraft makes as far as having a seamless flowing desin. No straight edges, everything just fits nice. Its a great package.

Single 502's will get you a consistent 62-63mph. Trade off is the the boat is a pure-bred offshore ride and will DO the 62 in the slop when other faster boats are struggling at 60. HP500 should correlate to 67-69 and so on and so forth....

Steve(can't remember his OSO name) has two pro charged stroked small blocks in his, and gets close to 90 mph now. He would be a good source for info on it.

JB,wish I had or knew of a P-29 to sell to you. I have run the 97 w/Twin 350's that my client is seling and it is a greatrough water boat as far as a 29 goes. Ill agree that anyone who quotes much higher than 72 without upgrades needs the BS meter from the other post. Between the single 29 SCARAB single and the Twin, Ill still take the Twin. I towed a single in a week and a half ago. It didnt really even have a very bad problem but when one Goes...It Goes!

A stock P-29 will NOT run 78, I friend of mine has one with a lot of work done to it and that runs 78-79.
Speed2lead,
My friend has a 96 31 Scarab "Thunder" with no power for mid-to high 40's on a trailer. The boat is sweet, external steering , k-planes, shore power, power bolsters. He will also power it if you want. I wish I could get rid of mine , I would be all over that boat !

I think I`m going to try and budget for a 33 AVS with twin 500`s.I`m trying to see one tomorrow, but the salesman never returned my call as to what dealership has one to view. I`ve just seen it online but untill u seen one in person I`m gonna withhold judgement.I always say it either takes your breath or not,but I will not try to grow to like it..When I look at a Cig. or Donzi they have the lines I like In a perf. boat, but the price is out there.I have a 2001 22ZX Donzi and love it,so Wellcraft has their work cut out for them.I also like the fact I`m 30 miles from either of these plants.
