Default Any Briggs & Stratton parts guru's here?

Got a buddy looking for a crankshaft from an older 8hp engine. Typical google searches show places that claim to have it, but after calling them, it's not anything they can get.

Part Number for Shaft 497146
Briggs and Stratton
8 hp
Model # 192432
Type 0122.01
Code 9410081B

Motor is on a Chipper Vac…Troy Bilt about 15 years old

Briggs, Honda, Toro,Gravely, Dixie Chopper, Stihl, Kohler, Kawasaki etc...

Yes I did hook you up! The Honda 2000 generator is still a best seller for us. We always have a dozen or so in stock at all times

My guys did some research. The information you are getting is correct as it is no longer available.
The reason it keeps coming up on websites is Briggs has not updated it on the parts tape and therefore all these guys using the partsmart software and selling parts online keep showing it available. That does not mean they have it in stock.

Can you take it to a machine shope and have it reground?

I haven't seen it. He is telling me he cannot find a complete motor that will fit into the frame/chasis of the machine and that the entire end of the crank snapped off.......doesn't sound repairable to me!!
Thanks for checking, I was kind of hoping to find a shop that had one left sitting on a shelf somewhere.

Russ, there is a guy on Richmond and DC Craigslist that advertises a riding lawnmower junkyard. From the pics, he a has a LOT of items to chose from.

Hope that helps.

what year is the motor? I have a few 8hp briggs motors sitting around with jacked pistons or head damage. All have good cranks.
