They were trying to Foul the whaling ships Props and got caught, I liked the fire hose on them after the hit and they are lucky the skipper did not circle and run them down for that Terrorism.
Kinda stupid like letting a semi catch and run over your Corvette!!

I'm just curious why they're using that cool boat for something they could do with a barge that's a bit more expendable? I've been aboard the EarthRace boat, and they had some pretty interesting technology going for them.
If your plan is to ram something about 1000 times your size and tonnage.....use an old dodge dart type boat.

Well...the boat always has been little more than a self righteous gimmick...and it's sort of fitting that it wound up being rammed by a larger vessel since the animal/vegetable fat burning piece of junk did exactly the same thing when it killed that poor fisherman in the middle of the night off Latin America, during its (failed) attempt at breaking the around the world record.
The design is over 30 years old and the "technology" was little more than a couple of diesels and a smelly engine compartment from all the rotting vegetable oil (and the captain's own adipose tissue) ooze. Oh yeah..it also had plastic props...which ...of course...failed.
At the end of the day this thing was a Don Quixote-esque...seagoing soap opera set that failed to raise the funds it so desperately sought.
Now..please let it sink in the South Pacific.
P.S. Whaling sucks too......
