Hey it looks like maybe there is someone who know what they are doing organizing this after all. Maybe this does have some legs?
Huron, Ohio (August 12, 2010) – Janie Vogel, Event Creator and Director of the Lake Erie Boat Week event, has entered into an agreement with the Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA), an internationally recognized professional offshore powerboat racing sanctioning body, to support and sanction Lake Erie Boat Week’s “Fastest Boat on Lake Erie” Competition, to be held September 11-12, 2010, as part of a six-day event.....
“To develop a new race site, the OPA needs a race producer to stand up and take on the enormous task of working with the local community to put together a first-class event,” stated Ed Smith, President, OPA Racing LLC. ...
... OPA will provide on-water insurance, inspectors, a few race teams and rescue divers. This will not be an OPA Race, however, it will be run as an OPA event, following the OPA rulebook and safety guidelines.
