Rest in peace Jerry. Never met ya...admired the HELL out of your boat and your OSO wisdom. Funny how you can feel a loss even never having met a person.
And DO THIS. We just did a run in memory of my bro Straight Jacket prior to the Michigan City SBI race. 35 boats and a LOT of horsepower with his dad smiling hugely in HIS former boat that Mild Thunder bought and rigged. Totally awesome.

Damn, the LEOPA gang has taken some big losses in the last couple years ... Phil Martin, Dave Stemen, and now Jerry.

WOW! i am speechless, i had the pleasure of meeting Jerry and His family through Jim and Mary Dietz (wicked won) and enjoyed a few years at the smoke on the water poker run with them and ran a few legs in the triple sabre.... RIP...

Services for Jerry McConnell, age 43, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hope Ridge United Methodist Church, 9870 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township.
Mr. McConnell passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at home, surrounded by his family and many friends.
He was born March 17, 1967, in Cleveland.
He loved boating with "Clifford" and "Little Clifford" at the Mentor Harbor Yacht Club, was an avid snowmobiler and an avid Cleveland sports fan. He was a 1985 graduate of Eastlake North High School, a member of Kirtland Christian Fellowship and Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association.
Survivors are his wife of 13 years, Kristen (Zema) McConnell of Mentor; sons, Jerry A. and Noah P. McConnell, at home; parents, Gary and Fran McConnell of Concord Township; sister, Christine (Tim) Egensperger of Concord Township; brother, Ernie (Shirley) Deitrick of Mentor; aunt, Patti Zeelo of Concord Township; and cousins, David (Debbie) Usnik of Mentor and Danny (Christine Remington) Usnik of Mentor.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Zeelo.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wester Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119; Cornerstone of Hope, 5905 Brecksville Road, Cleveland, OH 44131; Salvation Army, 69 Pearl St., Painesville, OH 44077 and Hope Chest, 85 North Park Place, Painesville, OH 44077.
