I also have thought about how great it would be to take an MP3 player on the boat and have more songs than my batteries would ever allow me to play. The problem I see is how to connect a portable to a system other than using a mini plug- Y cable to RCA jack kinda thing. I can come up with some dumb@ss descriptions can't I. Seems to me the better solution would be to get a newer model CD changer that will play CD-RW's. If anyone has a better idea please chime in.

I bought the West Marine stereo which is now on sale for 1$$ something. It's not that bad. The only problem is that it has 2 preamp outs vs 4 so if you have alot of amps you will need to buy splitters. It plays cdrs and cdrws w/ no problem. I've seen some bad ratings on it in the past but mine has been ok for a couple of months. Plus it's less than $200. Just a thought..
