I only pay to see pictures... Most of the members I know who don't pay, usually call me up because they want to see pictures... It's still the largest offshore community out there....

I don't put much thought process into paying the bill....it's not very complicated... I am a member of other sites that are free and don't complain about having to pay here.

What ever floats your boat... If you wanna join the country club you pay the membership, if not go somewhere else.

This is the only site I pay to be on for a few reasons. Quality of information is second to none, I have met many very good people through the site, keeps me aware of what is going on locally and worldwide about the hobby/business I love and last but not least the RG thread got me to go platinum (with her performance this past year I will be going back to gold). I heard talk of a boy toy. All I can say girl is WHAT ABOUT US.

I will admit that I do look at long time non paying members as cheap freeloaders if they are constantly here asking for info and not contributing.

Same here! Plus I think it the least I could do to help out a site that is absolutely great!

Merry Christmas everyone

We pay the $500.00 a year to have our website, and email in the signature (that was a hard click to make) and we never even got a thank you from anyone. We have yet to get support from anyone at IB, or mod's telling people to support the sponsors? We do get much support from past customers that are OSO members. I guess it boils down to the fact that I am willing to pay here based ONLY on the size of the membership.

Oh, and I often think how OSO profits from my 24 years of knowledge at Baja.

I use sponsors on the boards for parts/services instead of going a cheaper route (wholesalers etc.) because I appreciate the support they give us with the message boards plus their customer service is usually better. I haven't needed interior work but your on the top of my list.

For example, I could buy props from a wholesaler or cheaper company but I use BBlades cause they are sponsors on several message boards I read (OSO, MWBP, TBM, etc.). What I'd save on one prop would would pay my membership here but I'd rather give them my money since their membership costs more than mine would. If I was a cheap a$$, I'd of used the info posted here and ordered a cheaper prop from a wholesaler but that's a pretty $hitty thing to do. Paying members can support OSO their way and i'll support OSO my way.

I subscribe to Boating, Boating World, Performance Boats, Powerboat, and pretty much all the other boat magazines. What I find weird is that an OSO membership costs more than my subscription to Performance Boats yet PB sends me magazines, t-shirt, has a message board, and gives me access to all their archives. Which sounds like a better deal to you?

You're actually the most valuable type of member Plowtown. It doesn't get any better than you. Advertising rates generally get degraded once they see the click throughs and sell throughs don;t amount to much of anything.

I guess I pay because I feel it is worth it. I enjoy this site, and what it has to offer, check it out most every day. By signing up an spending a few bucks you do get a little more.
I'd go VIP if the T' shirts came in my size, but they don't.

This is much like stopping by the local gin mill on the way home from work, the cocktail will for sure cost you more than making one at home, but you are paying for the atmosphere and being to share time with some friends for a while.
