Do You NEED a Cabin?

In Florida a full cabin is a hot box unless you have A/C.
That said... my Mid Cabin is awesome. Both doors open make it shady and breezy. kids can sleep in there. dry storage in there. weather protection if needed. no wasted space for sitting so we aren't all crammed in the back.
Once you get past the mantra of having a 'bow rider' you realize you get the best of all worlds.

lol.
FWIW my next boat is going to be a cat.
A cat would actually be a much more 'useable' boat for me. 125mph or more, 32-36ft. hot rod, seats for 5-6, stereo. Ideally a 36/40 Skater/39 MTI or 36 Nortech. I have only ridden in a couple cats thus far so dont know what I actually like.
I have no kids and live in urban toronto which is a city of 6 million people.
keep my boat at my office on the trailer and use it in Lake Ontario for rides as well as take it to the cottage and friends cottages (the ones who dont mind the sound) lol).
If you have small kids and a wife and do alot of day boating and use your boat as a fun day adventure type thing I think cabin would be a no brainer.
for the 'young urban bachelor'....hot rod all the way. lol. Just wish I could fit more girls.

this is the best post so far.
p.s. I run a 2 man raceboat, no 'cabin'. There have been times when it would have been cool. For instance a trip to a bar where you can party all night and just flop into the cabin and pass out instead of dealing with BS of getting home and coming back the next day for the boat, etc. JUst wake up, kick her out, drink some water, eat some greasy food, have a dump and go back to the cottage!
