Hey SOCAL peeps
Do ya'll ever make runs down to Ensanada Mexico? I was reading where they have a couple of hotels with marina's set up for Americans boating down there. It sounds like it would be a blast.
I'm going to try and talk my brother in-law into doing it. He has his boat at whatever that marina is that has the Water World boat tied up in San Diego.
War-Lobster, Puerto Nuevo style!!

I would really like to do that......but some people around here are like those "barn homesick" horses that are in Mexico.......as soon as they get out, all they can think about is getting home before something breaks!!!!!!
I'm gonna look into it while I'm down there in a couple of weeks. SCOPE is doing a CruiseShip trip in a couple of weeks to Ensenada. I hope to get a few of the SCOPE people that aren't going on the cruise to give us a offshore powerboat escort for a little ways. That would be cool!

There's always the UN-FUN angle too..............like what about your insurance coverage, international waters, Mexican authorities, pirates and stuff like that. I would only do it with a group of 3+ boats.

I have run down to the Coronado's (sp) off the coast of Tijuana before....But I don't know about going any farther. I have heard to many tales of Mexican Police robbing people, Taking their boats ect...I always had the plan in my head that if I saw a Mexican Police boat headed towards me I would run for the border (about 5-10 miles) and ask the Coast Guard for help. I have also heard that they will not cross into Mexican waters to help you, so you are on your own until you make basck into U.S. waters. I would be careful and talk to some people that have run farther south of the border.

I was also curious about this, if anyone has had problems leaving their boats at the marinas down there. We are planning an Ensanada trip in June and my friends asked me about taking the boat down. If anyone has some first hand knowledge please chime in.
