Barnaget Bay.......
Lots of activity on the Bay this weekend.
Ill be down tonight with the intention of launching the boat tomorrow, hopefully not in the rain.
I saw a post somewhere in the last few days about a raft up over the weekend......Anyone know the details. This was not Chucks jiggy which is on the west side of the state. Im bummed to miss that.
Well between Skaterfest, the first launch of the season, my first appearance at the Waters Edge for the summer and all the OSO members that are going to be around, I geuss I should get to the bank and pick up a little extra coin.
Where and who is rafting up in BB?

You guys still hang out in Silver Bay?
Back in the sixties you could find over two hunderd boats there on a summer weekend.
I grew up skiing in the cove.
My parents had a house in Snug Harbor, the very west end of the bay.
Lots and lots of memories.

Just got back from the bank.
Ron P,
I will definately be at Skaterfest on both Saturday and Sunday. I thought I saw a post about some one haveing a raft up down towards LBI. Maybe that was for Memorial Day?
Iggy,
I waterskied the cove in Silver Bay every summer day (weekday) for atleast three years. The weekends get full with too many maroons in the water. Back when I was skiing there were no Jet Ski's and you pretty much had the cove to yourself (with a little wet down you could almost garantee it). Not the case anymore.

My parents had their house from 1963 till 1978.
Back then there was little skiing traffic.
Cattus Island was still private property. They had guard dogs running loose all day and night.
We used to know the guy who owned the house above the beach back then. Wish I could remember his name. He would bring coolers full of soda out to share with all us kids. He had a small cove/lagoon dredged that went up to his house and he kept a 50 ft boat there.
Then Jimmy Johnson bought the place and he would drive down on his tractor to chase us off. If he caught you fishing he'd take all you gear. Sometimes he'd have the police stand guard so nobody stepped foot on his property. Jerk!
Lots of stories.

My back yard is on Silver Bay and I can assure you that it is still the place to raft up on the weekend. The bigger boats usually stay overnight.
If the weekend is nice you can count on a few hundred boats to be anchored in the cove.
I'll have to post a photo for you sometime over the summer.

Thanks Ron, I'd like that.
Where do you live that your back yard is on the bay?
It's either someplace off Fisher Blvd. or off Silverton Road.
Mike,
Dover Marine is up near the Rt. 37 and Fisher Blvd. intersection? Firehouse nextstore?
If so, we used to have my engine serviced there and my boat winter stored there.
Snug Harbor is down by the Hooper Ave. end of Fisher.
I'm glad to be here too, I guess. Miss the area and friends but not the winter.
We still stop at Pizza King every time we're in town. Best damn cheese steak sandwiches and pizza in the area.
After I got married we bought a house in Beachwood. Lived there till Nov. '87 then moved to Florida.
Family, in-laws, still live in Toms River and Bayville.
Now I'm getting homesick.
