I've got a Searay Pachanga 22 with a procharged 454,full hydraulic steering,etc.

I think it handles rough water pretty good....solid as a rock...no rattles, creaks and groans!

Probably as fast in midrange power and acceleration as you will find!

Now I will stirr the pot again! The Pachanga's didn't last because they cost quite a bit more than a Scarab...Ya get what ya pay for...especially in terms of being solidly built!

thanks for the replies and the welcome.

some asked what I want as far as power I want atleast a 454 and perfer it to be fuel injected (gas prices nothe rise!) and the more power the better if I find a 454 mag so be it! I read where some say 97 scarabs have a 454 with 300hp and some say 454 330hp? is there a difference in the 97 model with 454 hp?

I mainly sold my ski boat due to it being a shallow running boat and beating me up on the weekend so how the boat takes the waves is a big deal with my decision.

what I'm confused with is the scarab 22 looks more shallow than the hammer but a lot ofpeopel say it takes chop better. Another thing is I read where th scarab is a wood with fiberglass mat strad overlay whereas the baja is a fiberglass floor (big plus to the baja fr that)

Also considering gthe h2x but the price seems to jump a good bit..more than I want to put into one but would be nice to get that extra length.

I am selling a 2002 Wellcraft Excalibur 230 Sport with a 350mag 300 h.p. 24 deg. deadrise, its a scarba hull and takes larger waves great for a 23 , just moved up to a 34 powerquest. It will be going on GrandSportCenter.com website sometime next week. I am the original owner and boat has been very well maintained and cared for. It was never kept in water and was stored inside during the winter months. Trailer is included. Any questions let me know or check out Grand Sport Center next week and talk to Mark.

going from 19 ft to 22 is not much of a change unless you get a 24 degree hull like the donzi 22,baja 24 or 25 ol which are boats you can get cheap now 15 to 25 grand. also a 24 x7 boat like the superboat 24. I saw a big step up going up to a 24 ol from a 19footer. so much I still have it. it went from a 62mph boat to mid 80s over time. the 454 330hp carb and the 454 300hp efi are the same older one was rated at block newer was rated at prop. buy a 24footer with a 24degree hull. a cabin helps with overnights and a place for the girls to pee. I now have a 28 saber thats almost finished will be in may. I wanted longer but not twins. hope to break a 100 with it, good luck .oh the two you are looking at have 21 degree hulls I believe, will suck in 3 footers a friend had a 26 footer with a 21 degree hull it sucked in 3 footers.

My first performance boat was a Velocity 280 that was 26'. After running it in true three footers I realized that my next v hull will be 30' feet or greater to handle those rough days on the lake. A 22 footer on a large lake like Lake Murray (54000 acres) was to small except on calm days. Just my .02 cents. Bob

oK guys after doing some research the scarab 22 and the baja hammer are not what I need.

I am looking at the donzi 22zx, the baja h2x, and the excaliburs in the 23ft range.

I have came across this boat and it looks nice I plan to give this guy a call. One thing I noticed is the 454 looks like a carbed 454 bu says EFI so guess it's fuel injected but it's an LX which I think is a low hp 454 correct? is 310hp the correct hp rating on that engine, think thats plenty to push that boat or forget that one and look for a 454 mag one.

If you find a donzi 22 with a blackhawk 502 that is a mean 22' and a classic. Watch one of these eat my lunch in the rough when i had a 22 scarab with the 300. Think the Pawn shop here had one for $13,000. Looking back wish I had bought just to have as a second boat for a classic.
