Your lucky. I had a couple oil filters (not mine) I’ve hade to take a chisel to the base at the pad. Always put oil on the rubber seal😎

Those chain wrenches that are on vice grips are the solution. Cheap at harbor freight and will get them right off. I've final gotten smarter and never put a filter ON with a wrench. Just my hands

I haven't used a wrench to put a filter on.....EVER!!! And I always put oil on the gasket. I don't know why this thing was stuck....but it was stuck like a MoFo!!!!

Sometimes I can't get my hand on a filter good enough to trust tightening it by hand so I have to snug it a bit with a filter wrench. A bit too tight is infinitely better than having it come loose!

Heat it up
I have a heat gun that is supper hot. I’m sure that would loosened up the oil filter. On my aircraft I use dow 40 in a green tube. It is a clear silicone used on the rubber gasket.

try cracking them loose before you drain the oil. not enough to leak just loose... then warm and drain...
