I really hope you're kidding....don't post things like this, then some bonehead will legitimately think you need a captains license to own one...

Captains License is for charters and business operators ie if people are paying you to take them out. It really has nothing to do the size of the boat..More of a liability thing...

Drive service I did over the winter and bought the gear lube by the five gallon bucket. I’d bet I filled up the drives faster with the bucket than most people with six bottles and the plastic pump. The winterization was harder due to the generator, AC, fresh water, hot water heater, two sinks and vacuflush. I like to do my work myself and when I have questions get help from a certified mechanic. I guess in our area that’s what’s nice, help isn’t very far away. I can't get away from the added expense of the parts for the extra motor. It is what it is.

The cruise and idle speeds are very nice.
Time to sell that Fountain Eddie and step up!

This is his 2nd 51' with Bravos. First 51' was NOT an epoxy and had 575's, no drive issues and now owned by Sakoutis on the board who upgraded the engines to 650's.

Captain's License?? I Have never heard that, nor do I think it is even remotely true.

For me - I'd take a 50 footer in a heartbeat and wouldn't think twice about towing it. It is only 16 feet longer than what I have now - that is barely the length of my living room; I say grip it and rip it....!!! I have to back the Cafe all the way down my street already, so what is the difference!!!

No, Saks old boat was the one before this one. This is the current owners 2nd 51' and he just stepped up to a 52'. See the trend!

Maybe more fuel but to run the same speed in this boat you're going to need staggered #6's with 900's at least and service interval on the 900's is going to be much more than the 600's.

The current owner refreshed the engines a few seasons ago and averages 100hrs per season of trouble free boating every weekend. They didn't need it but that's just how he rolls. He boats a lot more than I do.

Very Much Agreed on all of the above. Tripps are not for everyone obviously, but they have their advantages. I like them, thats why I purposely bought what I did. Its not realized that with the longer boats the "Air Time" you get is less than it is with boats of lesser length. You do get it just not as much ( depending on how much throttle ). If your easy out of the hole and watch the Air Time re-entry in relation to throttles, the Bravo's will live. Plus the ammentities you have in these boats is very nice, again its not for everyone. You have to be comfortable with it all: Towing, Fuel, Maintainence, etc....

I should add I trailer the 47 EVERY weekend. I'm not very far from the ramp, but the only problem is finding my way back into traffic from the gas station. It's not like I can punch it and just get back up to 45 mph again. I back the boat in and my wife parks the truck and trailer 97% of the time. You should see the look on the fishing boat guys faces when Kathy jumps out of the drivers seat! We have high speed pick ups on the AC and Gen nothing like running the AC down the main channel at 80 on a Saturday afternoon.

OL Dan said this 51' weighs in at 11,500 with the gooseneck I think it would pull better than my 47 off the hitch.

no your right i mispoke, it has to be for hire. But I would imagine insurance might have something to say about it.

Cool boat, but I just dont see what I would so with 50ft i have almost 30 now and unless I was on open open water doesnt really make sense

I trailer everywhere also. Adds for some additional versatility and less wear and fuel use of the boat using a trailer IMHO. You just have to be comfortable trailering the long load. It has some drawbacks, but I prfere it over high & dry storage or lift slip. Im Longer than most 18 wheelers hooked up. Gooseneck prob is better than off the rear, plus it allow for a tighter turn radius. I figure Im over 19,000 lbs loaded, boat, fuel gear and trailer. Then add in the truck.....
