Bruce K,
Did you use Express Marine, KE or did you do the motors yourself? I'm thinking about having my HP500 punched out to 509 and upgraded next year and John Cosker is recommending either KE or Tommy @ Cheif Engines. BTW, didn't you use to race the UNLEASHED Boat up north?

Hey Dean,
I've actually had motors built by Tommy at Chief and by Express Engines. They are both very good, but I had switched over to Express since they were closer to me and have become good friends with them. So, as for these motors, I had Express put the block and heads together and I did the rest.
As for the Unleashed, I raced that B boat Unleashed for 5 years but from down here as well and last year I throttled Twisted Styx.
Testing went ok, have some minor issues to work out, port motor was cutting out at 4800 rpms, so I'm going to test again either tonight or tomorrow. But at 4800 I was at 81mph and I'm guessing at 56-5800 I should be in the 90's. We'll see.

I had the whole job just done on my 260.
- remove the Bennets
- reglass the transom
- install the 280s
The labor for all that was $1,600.
I was able to get a new set of 280s (with pumps and hoses) for $1,500 on OSO.

BruceK,
Sounds like your almost there! Question, how does Express compare with Chief as far as prices are concerned? I talked to Bruce @ Express a couple of years ago about building up my 454 Mag I had, and the $$ he quoted me was high enough that I went out and bought a HP500 instead and sold the 454 Mag and saved alot of $$?! Bruce seems very knowledgable, and I've heard good things about his work, but the $$ thing just kinda scared me away. Good luck tonight testing. We are launching the Velocity tommorrow and boating down to Sebastian for the weekend. It's about 45 miles trip 1 way, hope the weather holds.
