Cig 42 Revolution
I want to buy a Cigarette 42 Revolution with twin staggered 800 HP engines and #3 drives. The boat needs TLC but could end up a nice boat. Can anyone tell me how they ride and what top end to expect ? Also any info on the 800 HP Hawks would be great.
I own a Top Gun with twin 700īs and I love the way it handles rough seas. Are the 42 with twins the same ? anyone ?
It is hard to find any info in Europe cause we only have a few boats here compared to you guys over there.

Dick Simon Marine (1-800-829-2628) has a revolution with triple 525SC's for sale--it's called Rock Candy, I think it was one of Cigarettes famous photo boats. I think it's a 1995

Good friend had one. I had tons of passenger time and some operating time. Boat was never challenged in the 4' to 5' water we sometimes get. Hull was a 92 with fresh power in 98. The twin, 900hp, staggered Cobra motors, never propelled the boat above 82mph. This particular hull ( I cannot say it was the same for all ) was poorly balanced and heavy. It always required a lot of tab during operation. It was a real eye popper every where we went and also a HUGE MONEY PIT !!!!!!

Thanks for the replys so far. regarding the Tiger I would love to buy one but money is a problem. I can get the Revolution for 50.000,- dollars, a Tiger is at least 6 times that.
I know the 3 engine ones are heavy that is why I want the twin engine one. The twin ones canīt be as heavy. Does anyone know how many was built ower the 8 - 9 year periode they were made ? What makes the big difference between the 38 and the 42 (still with 2 engines) it weighs a little more but the ballance canīt be that bad (engines staggered) MIAMI 82 mph with twin 900 Cobras sound wery slow can this really be ? The one I am looking at with twin 800īs shoud do 85 on the GPS.

GPS and the truth can be extremely harsh. Speedometer would read mid to upper 80's. Gps best reading was 82.3mph. Owner tried reorking the bottom, different props, sending motors back to Cobra, adding hook to bottom, removing hook to bottom etc. Nothing worked. He never tried a new X dimension.
His boat had six fuel tanks. Best reading came with the two rear tanks 1/2 full.
Be carefull of exagerrated speed claims!!!!!!!!

Only 82 mph with twin 900 that sounds slow was that really all it could do ? The Top Gun that I have now with twin 700īs and #3 drives never give me any problems. What problems did you have with the 42 ?

What problems -
Custom CMI exhaust ( older style before quality upgrades )weld leaks up @ 50 hours, replace @ 72hours. These are costly in a staggered configuration.
Upper motor rebuild @ 60 hours, lower @ 90hours
Three replacements of blown #3 drives and two rebuilds
Idle characteristics and dependability of 900hp motors
