Checkmate Adds Largest Model in Company History

+1! It keeps the thread focused on what it was intended to be...a thread about the new Checkmate.
We all had the history lesson and now have had the conversation pertaining to the molds. Now, let's move on to talking about THIS boat, not it's relatives.
If that isn't acceptable, start a new thread about it.....oh wait, there is one already going in the Apache section.

I like the concept of borrowing tooling (albeit "splashed"repeatedly like a whore at a sailor's convention) to avoid investing in something that may not have a market. I also have always been a fan of the Apache 41, so this looks like a good design choice.
That having been said I have never related to Checkmate's taste in boat model names. Calling something a "Punisher" means what? It punishes people on board? It punishes other people who look at it? It certainly won't "punish" a Skater or OL. While the marketing folks in Bucyrus ponder this, maybe they can answer another question I have had for years. What the H*ll is a Con- vin- cor???

Steve, I don't know what you are referring to. We made the tooling (stringers, etc.), leased the molds from the rightful owners, etc. I don't know what you are reffering to as a splash in this situation. We did not splash anyones molds or boats.
I do not know who Sunkin is......do not confuse me or Checkmate with anyone who has had past dealings with these molds.
Here is what I do know, we are building this the right way. Doing things the right way as far as business and nobody should confuse me, Checkmate or this project with anything from the past that was an ill faded attempt that never transpired. Once again, I have put my entire life on hold for this and it will be successful. Please keep all of your references pertaining to anything but this particular manufacturer or project where they belong, in another thread not pertaining to this boat or company.
Thank you

Steve, and i'm not trying to get into semantics on splashing here, but correct me if i'm wrong that it takes like a 10% change in the design for it to "legally" NOT be called a direct splash of something else? That being said, didnt Grady modify his personal Apache hull bottom himself. Then cast these molds off that modified hull...that would be an orriginal mold in that case...i know it has Apache roots but its not a direct splash. That being said i wish them great luck with this model! Ive always wanted to see what those Cheifs could do
