Actually, only has a cockpit cover on it. Drove by it again Friday. Still out in the sun, unmoved.
Back on e-bay w/a different ad. No longer listed as being a friends boat and now accepting offers.
What do you guys think this thing is worth in todays market ?? I hate seeing stuff in my price range rotting away let alone something this nice.

Those NorTech 50s are beautiful boats.
Tripple Merc 850/#6, this hull, runs about 100mph at 0.5mpg.
Potter motors in this boat, may be a fraction more efficent.

I have a very good friend who had that exact hull with tripple Merc 850/#6. He ran 100mph on gps and 0.5mph at that speed.
Another freind, same hull tripple 1,000, 112mph.

1/2 a mpg @ a 100 in a boat that size, especially a Vee, I'd think is something special??

I work 2 blocks from this place also.
See this boat everyday on the way to the gym.
Interesting to hear the story behind it.
I hope it gets a new home soon.
Price seems right but the operating cost.....yikes!!!!

Its total burn.
In any case, it is a beautiful boat, at a very low asking price IMO, and with a bit of nego, WOW what a buy!
Here are some thoughts.
We know how much energy is in a gallon of gasoline.
We know about how efficient modern EFI motors are, under load.
We therefore know, how much gasoline we burn, in one hour, to make 1 hp.
Generally, it is about 0.82 gallons / hour / 1 hp
FYI: This data is available from the dyno runs. Most Merc motors, have well documented GPH@wot data.
My boat as an example. 308 Skater T/300XS, (300 x .082 x 2) = 49.2 gal/hour total
I max out a 102mph, so do the math, and that is 2.09mpg.
In the real world, I get a fraction over 2mpg (per SC5000 SmartCraft) @ wot @ 102mph.
50 NorTech, 3x850/#6, (850 x .082 x 3) = 209 gal/hour total
It maxed out at 100mph, so do the math, and that is 0.48mpg
My friend told me 100mph, and about 1/2 mpg total.
Another friend/acquaintance, Powrboat Mag, Mar/Apr 2009, page 76
50 NorTech V, tripple 1,000hp, 112mph.
Now I realize that there are a ton of variables in mph/mpg and other statistics, like
gear ratio, prop diameter, prop pitch, prop rake, blade config, bottom efficiency,
drive hydrodynamic drag, boat loading, and many other.
The physics, engineering and math do not lie, and they generally give very accurate
information, and this is confirmed by the empirical data, from real world users.
Remember it does not matter what boat a motor is in.
A given motor, at a fixed HP, under load, will burn a
fixed amount of fuel (+/- small variance) regardless of
what the boat is. A tug boat with 1000hp, running wot
under load, going 10mph, and a cat with 1000hp,
running wot under load, going really fast; they both
burn about the same fuel in an hour.
