Erie Islands visit
We are planning a trip to the Islands sometime the middle of July. We will be going during the week so hopefully docking will not be a problem....or will it? I understand that rafting is quite common and required at some docks. Where can I dock to avoid rafting and still not be out in the boonies?
I plan to launch somewhere near Sandusky (280, Velocity) Where is a good place to launch and leave the Burban and trailer?
Any tips on things to do and what islands to hit and what to avoid. I just got my I 68 so hopefully I am all set to visit the Canadian Islands too.
Thanks,

There is a city ramp in Sandusky that is great and you can leave your truck and trailer there. For sure you should visit Put-in Bay (south bass island) and during the week you should be able to get a dock at the boardwalk I would think. PLus Kelly's Island, but its a little quiet during the week. Ill get you the address and if I get on a better hook up, will post a map. I live close and have my boat very near the ramp. It all depends on what you want to do, party or sightsee, or both. Email me with your number or I can give you a number where I am tonight.

Thanks,
We will do a little partying but mostly sight seeing and kicking back. We live in Western NY and have been to the Sadusky area but not with the boat. We are about a 2.5 hour drive from Cleveland so this shouldn't be too bad of a trip.
Any hassles with going to Canada and back? I do have a I-68 but haven't had to use it yet.

The rules on entering Canada have changed since Sept 11, Check with your local people on requirements . I've heard 3 Picture ID's are needed. Good luck on finding dockage at Put In Bay with no rafting. The Boardwalk offers bouys and taxi service but that's what the Bay is all about...R.A.F.T.I.N.G and D.R.I.N.K.I.N.G....This shows a vveerryy slow day at the docks. It was Sunday afternoon and most everyone had left for home.
